Wrapping up on here until I get the remainder of the pictures/video back.

This posting about the mayhem that was my last show is coming a little late. I'm been incredibly overwhelmed with the aftermath. Brittany saved the show. She was amazing. She prob doesn't read this but nonetheless, thank you so much. Tony drove out late Thurs night for an In N Out adventure and to keep us company (and me sane) while we played in our super deep bathtub (haha).

Everyone was amazing. Everyone. But some stuff went wrong. Blogger is not the place to discuss this. But live & learn. Thank you to everyone who came out for the show. Guests, models, photo & video dudes, stage managers, the hair & makeup crew, and Steph with the hair accessories. Without all of your hard work my line would just be clothing on pretty girls. With your help and hard work & dedication it was a show. A real show. This is priceless.

I'm done panicking. I just made the markers and cut out enough fabric for the next pieces.

So today wasn't that great, however, I got a lot finished.
Made my first pair of denim shorts, now I'm about to distress them a little (lot) with my electric sander. Handing all the denim over to Theo tomorrow for the painting-embroidery-beading.

Made my first pair of trousers. Black linen. GORGEOUS. I like making pants better than skirts.

Just drank a 5hr energy. NASTY.

Coffee & donut decompression with Brittany. Turned into a Wal-Mart adventure at midnight, walking around in the underwear department looking for garter belts that weren't XL. Bought almost $100 worth of fishnets and tights for this Friday.

5 DAYS LEFT! And I'm almost done. Just have the denim, a couple dresses and swimsuits left. And I have to get the garters and fishnets. So maybe I'm not almost done. It doesn't feel that daunting (I'll kick myself later for thinking that).

Spent yesterday recharging in the sun. Spent most of last night sewing. I'm trying to get all the chiffon & georgette pieces out of the way so I can move on to the heavy stuff. I've got to fit in my homework sometime this week. And getting the final track mixed. Fuck spaghetti strap and chiffon cut on the bias. Looks pretty but is it worth it? (The answer, unfortunately, is yes)

I'm pretty sure I have most of the crew situation figured out, except for the two dressers. There's no way in hell I'm gonna be a dresser for this show... I actually want to watch this one!

I need a couple of girls that are willing to be dressers for the models -- each model is going to have at least one outfit change (less models to cut back on time spent in hair & makeup, learned that the hard way last time). I ended up losing a few pieces from the last show, so the job requires putting the pieces back in labeled bags as soon as they're off the model, AND ensuring that the model gets all the pieces needed for the next look.

This means that you won't actually be watching the show, but there will be at least one person getting it on camera.

Didn't get nearly as much done today as I'd hoped. Got a flat tire. UGH, right? Good day nonetheless. Spent forever looking for my camera. Got some [bad] pictures of my very, very messy house which has been transformed into a sweatshop.

I've got the most random playlists for working on this show. Weezy, Aerosmith, the Marie Antoinette Soundtrack, Jesse McCartney (wtf? don't ask), Luda, Seawolf, Sam Sparro, Expendables, MIMS, random country music. At least my library has expanded since the last show...where I ended up listening to my entire itunes library several times over the course of a week.

I should really do my homework that's due tomorrow...

I forgot to mention in my last post --

This Friday is a preview for Discarded to Divine hosted by St. Vincent de Paul Society at the deYoung Museum. A lot of my classmates participated this year (my friend Hung received an award for 'Best in Menswear!')and their amazing reconstructed garments will be on display from 5:30 to 8:45 (Friday nights at the deYoung are baaaaaaack) The lineup this Friday is sick. This will probably be the first time I've used my membership in nearly a year.

The garments submitted by FIDM students were inspired by the Maya Lin: Systematic Landscapes exhibition which ran from October 2008 through January 2009.

St. Vincent de Paul’s Fourth Annual Discarded to Divine.
Recycled fashions, renewed lives.

Donated clothes are transformed into one-of-a-kind couture creations by students from local design schools and independent designers, drawing inspiration from the de Young’s various works and exhibitions, including Maya Lin: Systematic Landscapes, Yves Saint Laurent, and Warhol Live. Discarded to Divine helps to support the work of the St. Vincent de Paul Society in San Francisco.

But, 9 months? The parallels I could draw are several.
I'm applying everywhere, to cover my bases.
Because in this economy, anything goes.

Cal Poly, FIT, SF State, Parsons, London College of Fashion/Central Saint Martins, Pearl Academy of Fashion (India), Fashion Institute of the Philippines, Polimoda (Italy).

Dream big.

But first, make it though finals, through three more quarters, and the upcoming show.

No work on the show today.
Worked all day today (I'm not entirely fond of the mid shifts...they ruin an entire day).
Checked out baby beast (aka.. '86 WHITE SUZUKI SAMURAI). Fell in love. Bought new Coach wristlet because I lost my other one. Tired of carrying around massive BJ one.

Writing up a shopping & retail report, trend research, process book, and stuff for comp aided fashion design.

Up all night, and working on nothing for the show.

Super excited about developing the Native Way and 1/16 denim line.
Dope? Heck yes.

The four espresso shots did nothing but make me restless.

So cleaning out my studio is a lot harder than anticipated.
There's all the build up from school supplies, not to mention all the stuff from the last show.
The guest bedroom in my house is already taken up by my the furniture/etc stuff from my old apartment.. plus all the fabric and supplies I'm not currently using.

My actual room is a mess. I just did all my laundry and haven't put anything away yet.. finals are approaching and they're smacking me in the face. I can't believe we're in the final weeks of school.

What if I worked as hard as I did for the last show? That kind of intensity would be hard to keep up for more than a week. I guess that was the good thing about only having a week to put on a show -- there was a definite end to the madness, however I now have what seems like eons of time left before the upcoming show. But it really isn't that much time. And there is so much to do.

I won't have the good fortune of being off work for the weeks leading up to the show. Thank God I didn't book a trip for spring break, at least it will just be work + sewing for those glorious 3 weeks.

Looks like I have the next fashion show lined up. It will be at Horizon on Friday, Apr 17. I'll be doing the clothes, Steph will be contributing headpieces and I'm using some of Theo's denim designs.
